MBC’s upcoming drama “Motel California” has shared a new glimpse of Lee Se Young in character!
Based on Shim Yoon Seo’s 2019 novel “Home, Bitter Home,” “Motel California” is a romance drama about a woman named Ji Kang Hee (Lee Se Young), who was born and raised in a rural motel called Motel California. After escaping her hometown, she returns home after 12 years and winds up reconnecting with her first love and childhood friend Cheon Yeon Soo (Na In Woo).
Newly released stills from the upcoming drama capture Ji Kang Hee in Seoul, where she struggles to find her footing as an interior designer after leaving her hometown at the age of 23. Exhausted from a hard day’s work, Ji Kang Hee plops down on the ground of an interior construction site for a brief break while covered in dust and sweat. The hollow look in her eyes also reveals how drained she is both physically and mentally.
Another photo shows Ji Kang Hee desperately trying to stay warm in the goshiwon (a tiny studio traditionally rented by students preparing for an important exam) where she lives. Crouched against one wall of the room, the visibly cold Ji Kang Hee wraps herself in a comforter while staring off into space.
“Motel California” will premiere on January 10, 2025 at 9:50 p.m. KST. Check out a teaser for the drama here!
