Lee Jung Jae has opened up about his co-star Gong Yoo’s captivating performance in Squid Game 2, particularly praising his masterful handling of the intense Russian roulette scene.

In a reaction video released on Netflix Korea’s channel on December 28th, Lee Jung Jae shared his thoughts on the scene. “I actually thought this scene was quite cinematic in its setup. Filming scenes like this requires much more consideration,” Lee reflected. “In the first episode, we needed to make sure the audience wouldn’t think it was too theatrical while still maintaining the entertainment factor and tension. Finding the right emotional balance and tone was challenging.”

Speaking about Gong Yoo’s performance, Lee expressed enthusiasm: “I think Gong’s fans will be particularly excited to see this new side of him. With an ending like this, how could anyone not watch Episode 2? I told him several times, ‘You really did an amazing job with this.’”

Lee continued with earnest praise, sharing, “I mean this sincerely. In that scene, he performed brilliantly, showing playfulness while maintaining an eeriness. It was more than enough for a climactic scene.”

Commenting on another roulette scene featuring Gong Yoo, Lee observed, “It’s a scene that complexly blends both horror and humor. I think viewers will be completely drawn into how naturally it flows from the previous scene.”
