“Squid Game 2” has unveiled a sneak preview of the new contestants!
“Squid Game” centers on a mysterious survival game with a reward of 45.6 billion won (approximately $34.5 million) on the line. Season 2 picks up with Seong Gi Hun (Lee Jung Jae), who gave up on going to the United States to pursue his own goals linked to the deadly game he won in Season 1.
The newly released poster captures the trademark colorful building the games take place and features the contestants in the iconic green tracksuits.
The endless maze-like stairs the contestants walk through appear to be a method to keep a watchful gaze over the contestants and hint at how the contestants have no way of escaping until the games are over.
Amongst the masked pink guards, the enigmatic Front Man (Lee Byung Hun) boldly moves without a mask, making viewers wonder if Seong Gi Hun will be able to reveal the Front Man’s true identity through the new season.
Furthermore, the new stills for Season 2 highlight a more detailed look at the returning characters as well as the new contestants vying to win the games. In one still, Seong Gi Hun and Hwang Jun Ho (Wi Ha Joon) meet outside the games, making viewers wonder if they will work together to find the truth about the Front Man.
Seong Gi Hun returns as contestant 456, while Myung Gi (Im Siwan), as contestant 333, is a crypto YouTuber whose misguided coin investments caused massive financial losses for both himself and his subscribers.
Yong Sik (Yang Dong Geun) joins to games to repay his debut made from gambling, while Yong Sik’s mother Geum Ja (Kang Ae Shim) joins in order to protect Yong Sik and her family.
Seong Gi Hun reunites with his longtime friend Jung Bae (Lee Seo Hwan), while Joon Hee (Jo Yu Ri) joins the games after losing a large sum of money due to believing in incorrect investment information.
Furthermore, the star-studded cast lineup including Kang Ha Neul, Park Gyu Young, Lee Jin Uk, Park Sung Hoon, and more further piques interest in the new season.
“Squid Game 2” will premiere on December 26.
