Lee Jong Suk is considering a role in the upcoming drama The Remarried Empress, based on the hit fantasy romance web novel of the same name.
On December 10th, Lee Jong Suk’s agency confirmed, “He has received an offer to appear in ‘The Remarried Empress’ and is currently reviewing it, but nothing has been finalized yet.”
The story, which has garnered over 1.5 billion views globally, follows Navier Ellie Trovi, the perfect empress of the Eastern Empire, as she divorces Emperor Sovieshu Trovi Bicte and remarries Heinrey Alles Lazlo, the king of the Western Kingdom. The drama delves into Navier’s journey as she discovers her husband’s plan to crown his mistress as empress. Facing betrayal, she chooses to divorce and resolves, “If I can’t be an empress here, I’ll become one elsewhere,” setting the stage for her bold decision to remarry and reclaim her title in a new kingdom.
Lee Jong Suk has been offered the role of Heinrey Alles Lazlo, the charismatic king who plays a pivotal role in Navier’s new life.
Previously, it was reported that Shin Mina is also considering the lead role of Navier Ellie Trovi, sparking excitement over the potential pairing of these two stars.
The series will be directed by Jo Soo Won, known for his work on I Can Hear Your Voice, Pinocchio, and Still 17. Jo Soo Won and Lee Jong Suk previously worked together on both I Can Hear Your Voice and Pinocchio, raising anticipation for their potential reunion.
