Lee Jong Suk is poised to make his first foray into the OTT market, partnering with Disney Plus for the adaptation of the popular webtoon 1 Second (literal title). According to reports on the 11th, discussions for Lee’s involvement in the series, currently titled 1 Second, are progressing positively, hinting at a likely confirmation soon.
1 Second intricately narrates the lives of real-life firefighters racing against time. Authored by writer Sini and illustrated by Kwangwoon, the webtoon debuted in 2019 on Naver Webtoon and concluded its first season in 2022, with the second season currently in progress.
The series is set in the fictional city of Jakdo, where the central fire station’s legendary firefighter, Ho Su, is the protagonist. Ho Su possesses the unique ability to see the future, which he uses to achieve a 100% rescue rate during fire and other disaster situations.
The webtoon has garnered over 500,000 readers and boasts a rating of 9.98 out of 10, marking it as a fan favorite. In the original comic, Ho Su is described as a good-looking character with brown hair and double eyelids, features that align closely with Lee’s appearance, suggesting a high degree of visual fidelity for his portrayal.
If finalized, this role would mark Lee Jong Suk’s first project since the movie Decibel two years ago and his inaugural venture into the OTT platform. The series is anticipated to generate significant buzz as it introduces Lee in a role that promises to leverage his acting prowess in a storyline rich with heroism and dramatic flair.
