Shin Hye Sun and Lee Jin Wook, the stars of the romance drama Dear Hyeri, recently posed for a couple photoshoot with ELLE Korea magazine. Reflecting the deep, complex emotions and unique beauty of their on-screen romance, the shoot captured the sizzling chemistry between the two actors.
Following the photoshoot, the duo sat down for an interview. Speaking about the close bond they’ve formed while filming, Shin Hye Sun said, “It’s my first time doing a couple photoshoot, but because it’s with Jin Wook, I could just trust him and go with it. Even when we filmed the romantic flashback scenes for ‘Dear Hyeri,’ he’d say, ‘Just trust me,’ and I’d reply, ‘You have my full trust!’” she shared. Lee Jin Wook, in turn, complimented his co-star, saying, “She’s an actress with great balance—technique, naturalness, emotion, all of it.”
When asked about the challenge of playing two personalities in one body, Shin Hye Sun expressed, “I wanted both Joo Eun Ho and Joo Hye Ri to become special to the audience. I acted with the hope that they’d both be loved.” Addressing the romantic storyline with the character’s ex-girlfriend, Lee Jin Wook shared his thoughts, saying, “It was a new feeling. Even though they’re deeply in love, his trauma from childhood leads to their breakup. The process of healing was portrayed in a warm and heartfelt way.”
In Dear Hyeri, Shin Hye Sun plays both Joo Eun Ho and Joo Hye Ri, each involved in a different kind of romance: an eight-year-long love and a first love. Reflecting on these two sides of love, she said, “Love changes people more than anything else on this planet. And it’s not just romantic love—it’s all kinds of love. I think feeling love is the reason we live.”
Meanwhile, Lee Jin Wook spoke about his experiences in romance dramas and how playing out multiple love stories has impacted him. “Honestly, love is everything. If you look closely, a lot of things in the world stem from love,” he remarked.
