Upcoming occult film “Dark Nuns” has shared a new glimpse of Lee Jin Uk’s character!
The second installment and the female version of Kang Dong Won’s hit 2015 film “The Priests,” “Dark Nuns” tells the story of nuns who perform exorcisms to save a young boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.
Lee Jin Uk stars as Father Paolo, a priest and psychiatrist opposed to exorcism who finds himself at odds with Sister Junia (Song Hye Kyo) and Sister Michaela (Jeon Yeo Been).
Unlike Sister Junia and Sister Michaela who prepare for a forbidden ritual to save a possessed boy, Father Paolo firmly believes that the boy’s symptoms are rooted in psychological trauma and can be treated medically. His conviction leads to direct conflict with the two nuns, and his unwavering determination to do everything he can to save the boy adds depth and emotional tension to the story.
On Lee Jin Uk’s performance, director Kwon Hyuk Jae remarked, “He was the most fitting actor for the role of Father Paolo and he contributed many great ideas during the preparation and filming process of this movie.”
Lee Jin Uk shared, “I delved into why Father Paolo believes so strongly that he can treat the boy medically. I worked on creating a backstory for the character to analyze him deeply.”
“Dark Nuns” will hit theaters on January 24, 2025.
