It has been reported that Korean underground rapper Ch1tkey has tragically passed away.
A close acquaintance of Ch1tkey shared the details of the incident on an online hip-hop community yesterday. He explained, “One of his friends promised their viewers that if a certain Instagram follower count was reached, Ch1tkey would jump off the rooftop. When the goal was met, Ch1tkey and his friend went to the rooftop.”
He continued, “The plan was to pretend to fall and then give a gift to a random viewer. However, Ch1tkey slipped and fell. It was a five-story building with a ledge in the middle. His friend initially thought it was a joke and went to check on him, but Ch1tkey didn’t respond. They called an ambulance and rushed him to the emergency room, but he was pronounced dead due to cardiac arrest.”
Ch1tkey’s Instagram has since been flooded with comments mourning his untimely death.
A girl believed to be the rapper’s girlfriend posted on her Instagram story, writing, “I believe you’re living freely in the world you’ve always dreamed of. You’ve worked so hard. Let’s meet every day in our dreams. I’m so grateful to have been your first love.”
Born in 2003, Ch1tkey was an active underground rapper who shared many of his songs on SoundCloud. He was once involved in controversy for releasing a derogatory song about former President Roh Moo Hyun.
