South Korean comedian Kim Byung Man, best known for his role on the popular variety show Law of the Jungle and King of Survival: Tribal War, has denied allegations of assaulting his ex-wife.
Kim Byung Man’s agency, Skyturtle, issued a statement on November 12th, saying, “The claims that Kim Byung Man assaulted his ex-wife are not true.”
The agency clarified that Kim Byung Man’s ex-wife made false accusations of assault during their divorce proceedings. These claims were dismissed by the court, as the alleged incidents occurred while Kim Byung Man was abroad. The prosecution ultimately decided not to indict him due to lack of evidence.
The agency added, “His ex-wife has a child in their mid-20s. Now that the divorce case is over, there’s a situation involving the termination of parental rights. She is demanding 3 billion KRW from Kim Byung Man as a condition for the termination. The false accusations were made to avoid the division of assets after the divorce.”
Previously, Kim Byung Man’s ex-wife claimed in an exclusive interview with SPOTV News that he had been habitually physical with her during their marriage and that his assault case had been referred to the Uijeongbu District Prosecutor’s Office this past July.
Kim Byung Man married in 2011, and he and his ex-wife parted ways after divorce proceedings concluded in 2020.
