tvN’s upcoming drama “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” has shared its first stills of actress Kim Yoon Hye!
Based on a popular webtoon, the upcoming drama is directed by Jung Ji In, known for “The Red Sleeve.” Set in the 1950s, shortly after the Korean War, the series follows Jeong Nyeon (Kim Tae Ri), a young vocal prodigy who dreams of becoming a top traditional theater actor. The show explores Jeong Nyeon’s journey through competition, teamwork, and personal growth amid a difficult era for the nation.
Kim Yoon Hye plays Seo Hye Rang, the top star of the Maeran Classical Opera Troupe, who consistently takes on the leading female roles. She is known for her exceptional dancing skills and elegant, graceful presence. However, she also has a cunning side and is willing to sabotage anyone, including Moon Ok Kyung (Jung Eun Chae), who threatens her position.
The released stills capture Seo Hye Rang with a mesmerizing aura. In one photo, she stands out from the crowd of modestly dressed market vendors in a bright red dress, red lipstick, a lace parasol, and silk gloves. In another, she is seen performing a sword dance in a sunlit courtyard. A third photo depicts her confidently performing on stage, dressed in colorful costumes and makeup, while enjoying the spotlight. The sharp look in her eyes, both on and off stage, has viewers curious about her ambitious character.
The production team of “Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” commented, “Kim Yoon Hye put immense effort into mastering the vocal and dance skills required to embody the character of Seo Hye Rang, who needs to exude the aura of a top traditional theater actress. Her efforts will shine through in the drama.” They also hinted, “Hye Rang’s presence will mark a significant turning point in Jeong Nyeon’s story of growth. Please pay close attention to her journey.”
“Jeongnyeon: The Star Is Born” premieres on October 12 at 9:20 p.m. KST.
