Veteran singer and father of actor Kim Soo Hyun, Kim Chung Hoon, made a surprising appearance on MBC’s King of Mask Singer this Sunday.

During the 12th broadcast, the show featured a first-round duet battle between Lucky Box and Allowance Box. The duo chose to perform Kim Hyun Sik’s “My Love Beside Me,” each bringing their unique flair to the heartfelt rendition. Hearing their performance, the panelist Kim Jong Seo guessed Allowance Box as Seven Dolphins’s Kim Chung Hoon, expressing his surprise at his participation: “I can’t believe that he’s here, but having been on the same stage as him before made me sure that it’s him.”

As Lucky Box moved on to the second round with 70 votes, the identity of Allowance Box was revealed. Kim Chung Hoon took off his mask while singing Kim Soo Chul’s “The Unbloomed Flower,” confirming the suspicions.

Celebrating 45 years in the music industry, Kim Chung Hoon expressed his motivation for taking part in the show. “Although I debuted a long time ago, I haven’t done much television. I wanted to try something new,” he revealed, adding, “Trying to appear on television while working was tough.”

Looking ahead, Kim is enthusiastic about his future plans. “I held my first concert last June. It made me feel alive. I want to write more songs, share them with everyone, and keep singing as long as I can,” he shared vibrantly.

In personal news, Kim Chung Hoon finally tied the knot last month to the woman he’s been living with for a long time. The ceremony was kept private. Notably, Kim Soo Hyun did not attend the wedding.
