The Korean production of the “Aladdin” musical has unveiled its highly-anticipated cast lineup!
On August 6, the production company of “Aladdin” announced, “We discovered the leading cast members for Korea’s first ‘Aladdin’ through auditions.” From stars representing various fields of culture and arts to veteran actors with 10 to 25 years of experience, a total of 37 actors, each possessing exceptional talent, will come together in this production.
Featuring bold adventures, classic entertainment, a timeless love story, and true friendship, “Aladdin” follows Aladdin’s journey in the mystical kingdom of Agrabah. It is based on Disney’s animated film “Aladdin.”
The role of Aladdin will be played by prominent Korean musical stars: Kim Junsu, Seo Kyung Soo, and Park Kang Hyun.
The role of Genie, a character with an irreplaceable presence, will be portrayed by actors Jung Sung Hwa, Jung Won Young, and Kang Hong Seok.
The role of Princess Jasmine will be played by three actresses, each with their own unique charm: Lee Sung Kyung, Min Kyung Ah, and Choi Ji Hye. It is notable that iconic star Lee Sung Kyung, who showcased her singing skills on “The King of Mask Singer” and released a digital single titled “Eat Sleep Live Repeat” in 2023, will finally make her musical debut as Jasmine.
Sultan will be played by Lee Sang Joon and Hwang Man Ik, Jafar by Yoon Sun Yong and Im Byul, and Jafar’s henchman Iago will be played by Jung Yeol.
Aladdin’s friends and companions Kassim and Omar will be played by actors Seo Man Seok and Yook Hyun Wook, while Bang Bo Yong and Yang Byung Chul will play Babkak.
The Korean production of the “Aladdin” musical will be performed in two cities, Seoul and Busan. It opens at Charlotte Theater in Seoul on November 22 this year and runs until June 22, 2025, and in Busan, it opens at Dream Theater in July 2025.
