MBC’s drama “Bitter Sweet Hell” has released new stills featuring Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, and Jaechan!
“Bitter Sweet Hell” is a black comedy starring Kim Hee Sun as Noh Young Won, the top family psychiatrist in all of Korea. When an anonymous blackmailer puts her career and family at risk, Noh Young Won teams up with her mother-in-law Hong Sa Gang (Lee Hye Young), a mystery novelist, to protect their family.

Previously, Noh Young Won discovered secrets hidden by her husband Choi Jae Jin (Kim Nam Hee) and father-in-law Choi Go Myeon (Kwon Hae Hyo). This left her shocked and feeling betrayed. The final scene heightened the tension as Noh Young Won found Oh Ji Eun (Shin So Yul) covered in blood followed by the eerie appearance of Hong Sa Gang in a chilling ending.
In the newly released stills, Noh Young Won, Hong Sa Gang, and Choi Do Hyun (Jaechan) sit down for breakfast. When Choi Do Hyun asks a question, Noh Young Won’s eyes show uncertainty, while Hong Sa Gang responds with a forced smile. Choi Do Hyun receives contradictory answers from both, leaving him bewildered.
After Noh Young Won and Hong Sa Gang give different answers, they quickly exchange glances, sparking suspicion in Choi Do Hyun. Viewers are left wondering what question Choi Do Hyun asked his mother and grandmother and if their tense breakfast will stay peaceful. The uneasy atmosphere continues to build.
Kim Hee Sun, Lee Hye Young, and Jaechan displayed exceptional teamwork while filming the scene.While preparing, the three shared whispers and laughter, showcasing their close and warm relationship. As filming began, Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young fully embraced their roles, portraying contrasting emotions, while Jaechan subtly conveyed nuanced emotional shifts.
The production team commented, “Kim Hee Sun and Lee Hye Young not only show strong consideration for each other but also demonstrate their remarkable acting skills as veteran actresses, creating uniquely delightful mother-in-law and daughter-in-law chemistry.” They continued, “Through Choi Jae Jin, will the tangled emotions between the in-laws be resolved, and will hidden truths and secrets be unveiled in the third episode of ‘Bitter Sweet Hell’? The third episode of “Bitter Sweet Hell” will air on May 31 at 9:50 p.m. KST.
