Upcoming Taiwanese film “The Photo from 1977” has revealed the first glimpse of Jung Jinyoung’s character!

Set in 1977 in the Zhongli District of Taiwan, “The Photo from 1977” follows the story of photographer Shen Ying (Moon Lee) and Taekwondo coach Kim Ho Hee (Jung Jinyoung), who hails from Korea. In an era marked by both chaos and hope, three young people pursue their dreams through the lenses of their cameras and the effort they pour into their work in this romantic period drama.

Jung Jinyoung will play Kim Ho Hee, a strong and mature character who leaves behind painful memories from Korea to start anew in Taiwan. The film’s stills, with their distinct 1970s vibe, showcase a side of Jung Jinyoung that fans have never seen before, heightening anticipation for the film.

During his two-month stay in Taiwan, Jung Jinyoung balanced Taekwondo training and Chinese lessons while filming across the island. He shared, “Edison Song taught me a lot of Chinese.” He added, “We did many script readings before filming. Even though the language was different, we connected on a deeper level,” underscoring the strong teamwork during production.

Rising star Moon Lee, known for her roles in the Netflix drama “The Victim’s Game” and the film “I Am the Secret in Your Heart,” will star as the female lead. During an interview in Taiwan, local media praised the chemistry between Jung Jinyoung and Moon Lee, calling “The Photo from 1977” the most anticipated emotional romance film of 2025.

One of the directors, Frank Cheng, also revealed that after filming a scene where Jung Jinyoung and Moon Lee share their emotions in front of a photo studio, his co-director was so moved that he shed tears.

“The Photo from 1977” is scheduled for release in the second half of this year. Stay tuned for more updates!
