Jung Gun Joo has shared his thoughts on his upcoming drama “Check in Hanyang”!
Set in the Joseon Dynasty, “Check in Hanyang” is a historical romance drama that depicts the growth and love stories of youths who join as “interns” at Yongcheonru, the largest inn in Joseon.
Jung Gun Joo stars as Cheon Jun Hwa, the only heir to Joseon’s top inn, Yongcheonru. Once carefree, Cheon Jun Hwa is ordered by his father to start at the bottom and learn hotel management, beginning as an education assistant.
Jung Gun Joo said the script’s appeal was the main reason he joined the project. He also praised the character of Cheon Jun Hwa, explaining, “I was drawn to the charm of the character.”
Cheon Jun Hwa, the son of Master Cheon (Kim Eui Sung), the owner of Yongcheonru and a powerful figure controlling wealth in Hanyang, has lived a life of luxury. His charm stems from the relaxed confidence typical of a wealthy young man.
Jung Gun Joo said, “Cheon Jun Hwa is smooth-talking and laid-back.” He added, “Those traits are similar to mine,” which helped him naturally connect with the character. However, Cheon Jun Hwa is more than just a laid-back and charming character. After joining Yongcheonru, he will grow through his friendships with the “Trouble 4,” a troublesome group at Yongcheonru known for starting every sentence with “But.”
Jung Gun Joo remarked, “I think this is the first time I’m showing such a variety of sides in one drama,” raising anticipation for his new transformation.
“Check in Hanyang” premieres on December 21 at 7:50 p.m. KST and will be available to watch on Viki. Check out the latest teaser for the drama here!
