The mystery-thriller K-drama “Jirisan,” headlined by two top stars Jun Ji Hyun and Ju Ji Hoon, delivered intrigue that kept viewers on the edge of their seats.
The 2021 16-episode series was directed by Lee Eung Bok of “Goblin,” “Mr. Sunshine,” and “Descendants of the Sun,” along with renowned screenwriter Kim Eun Hee, the genius behind “Signal” and “Kingdom.”
“Jirisan” depicts the story of mountain ranger Kang Hyun Jo, an ex-military lieutenant who decided to shift his career and join as one of the employees of Mt. Jirisan.
However, as he solves the mystery on the mountain, he meets an unexpected tragedy. This is where his senior, Seo Yi Kang, continues Hyun Jo’s journey.
Three years after the series ended, let’s get to know the “Jirisan” cast and their current or upcoming projects.
Jun Ji Hyun
Taking on the role of top-notch mountain ranger Seo Yi Kang, “Jirisan” is Jun Ji Hyun’s K-drama comeback after “Kingdom: Ashin of the North.”
At the height of the thriller-mystery series, the Hallyu superstar faced criticisms regarding her endorsement with the outdoor brand NEPA and was accused by viewers of bombarding the series with ads.

While viewers still hope for Ju Ji Hoon’s return in “Kingdom” Season 3, the South Korean star headlined back-to-back K-dramas since “Jirisan.”
He will have his small screen comeback in 2023 for the much-awaited sci-fi series “Dominant Species” with Han Hyo Joo, Lee Hee Joon, Lee Moo Saeng, and Park Ji Yeon.
