Ji Chang Wook opened up about his unique experience living as a farmer in Mexico on new JTBC variety show My Name is Gabriel.
During a production presentation held on June 20th in Seoul, Ji Chang Wook shared, “I haven’t been on a variety show in a while, so I felt a bit awkward at first. But I got used to it, and I think you’ll enjoy the show.”
Addressing the initial pressure he felt about appearing on a variety show, Ji Chang Wook admitted, “At first, I didn’t feel any pressure because I didn’t have much experience with variety shows.” However, he revealed, “But once I was on set, I realized how challenging it was. Living someone else’s life isn’t easy, especially when you don’t have any information about them. I had to make inferences and figure things out as I went along. It wasn’t easy at first, and the work was physically demanding too.”
Producer Kim Tae Ho, who carefully selected the countries and characters to match the personalities of the cast members, revealed that Ji Chang Wook’s own words inspired the show’s direction. “Ji Chang Wook said in an interview that ‘good shows come out when celebrities struggle,’” Kim Tae Ho shared, explaining that the show was tailored to Ji Chang Wook’s desire.
