IU is creating a buzz with her heartwarming gesture of taking her grandmother on a lavish vacation.
The singer and actress recently posted several photos on her Instagram, sharing sweet moments from her luxurious getaway with her grandmother. One particularly touching image shows IU embracing her grandmother, adding to the heartwarming atmosphere of the trip.
While IU’s laid-back, casual look in the photos caught fans’ attention, the real buzz is about the extravagant resort where the two stayed. Located in Phuket, the five-star resort is known for its stunning surroundings by the Andaman Sea and its top-tier privacy, a must for a global star like IU.
The price of the resort is just as eye-popping. The nightly rate starts at approximately 1.5 million KRW (around 1,100 USD) and can go up to 3.2 million KRW (2,400 USD) per night. Given IU’s impressive financial success, many are speculating that she likely opted for the highest-end accommodation.
This isn’t the first time IU has made headlines for her impressive spending. Previously, she sparked interest when she purchased a luxury penthouse in Gangnam for 13 billion KRW (9.7 million USD) in cash. Her home, which boasts breathtaking views of the Han River, is in one of the tallest and most sought-after buildings in Korea, where fellow celebrities like Yoo In Na, Zico, and Crush also reside. In addition, IU purchased a countryside house in Yangpyeong, Gyeonggi Province, for 3 billion KRW, where her family lives. Since 2020, she has been quietly giving back to the Yangpyeong community through regular donations.
In other news, IU recently lent her talents to girl group Billlie’s comeback. According to Mystic Story, IU contributed to the writing and production of the title track “remembrance candy” on Billlie’s mini album appendix: Of All We Have Lost.
