Hyun Bin has shared his thoughts on his upcoming film “Harbin”!
“Harbin” is a spy film set in 1909, showcasing a thrilling chase and the web of suspicion between those heading to Harbin for a single purpose and those pursuing them.
Hyun Bin, known for his versatility in both action and romance genres, takes on the role of Ahn Jung Geun, a general determined to restore Korea’s sovereignty. His performance is expected to highlight profound emotional depth, infused with sincerity and complete dedication.
The film offers a fresh perspective on Ahn Jung Geun, focusing on his role as a military leader rather than the more familiar depictions of him as a doctor or activist often seen in history books and media.
Hyun Bin shared, “I read the script several times, each with a different perspective. I found myself wondering what kind of determination drove him to see his mission through to the end. As an actor, I felt truly blessed to have the opportunity to portray such a remarkable figure. That’s why I knew I had to approach this role with absolute sincerity.”
During filming, Hyun Bin earned high praise from the crew for his unwavering dedication and immersive performance. To prepare, he thoroughly studied most of the available material on General Ahn Jung Geun.
Hyun Bin’s portrayal captures both the loneliness and determination of Ahn Jung Geun, a man risking his life during a time of lost sovereignty. Alongside delivering nuanced emotional performances, Hyun Bin will also showcase dynamic action sequences as the story unfolds on the journey to Harbin.
Director Woo Min Ho, working with Hyun Bin for the first time, praised his performance, saying, “With ‘Harbin,’ Hyun Bin embraced a new challenge, delivering a portrayal of Ahn Jung Geun with unparalleled depth and a result unlike anything in his past work.”
“Harbin” is set to hit theaters on December 25. Stay tuned!
