Girl’s Day’s Hyeri recently shared insights about her character in an entertaining and candid YouTube video, offering fans a look at her life away from the spotlight.

On Friday, Hyeri unveiled a fresh episode of her YouTube series Hemeko, entitled “Just Make It Hip, Anything Goes.”

In the clip, Hyeri goes to hairstylist Giwoo for a layered hairstyle and requests a trendy look. When Giwoo playfully inquires if she sees herself as hip, Hyeri chuckles bashfully and confesses, “People have actually told me to stop labeling myself as hip.”

Giwoo continued to ask, saying, “Fans frequently see you as cute on screen, but how about in real life? Would you call yourself hip?” Hyeri replied honestly: “Well, I don’t really label myself. I’m just… me.” This straightforward answer amused the production team, as they noted, “While she appears cute on screen, in reality, she’s more serious than you might think. It’s just her looks that come across as cute.” Hyeri teasingly concurred, saying, “That’s true. I do look cute,” while making an adorable face.

With her varied career including music, reality shows, acting, and YouTube, Giwoo questioned Hyeri about which area she feels most comfortable in. Without hesitation, Hyeri said, “I believe variety shows fit me the best.” However, when asked if she enjoys her hectic broadcasting routine, Hyeri confessed, “It’s not always enjoyable. Sometimes, it can feel overwhelming. No one puts pressure on me, but I tend to put much pressure on myself.”

Giwoo observed that conversing with Hyeri felt more like chatting with a friend than a work setting. Hyeri’s response was unexpectedly candid: “When I’m filming, it genuinely feels like I’m merely hanging out with my older colleagues. But I can spend time with my real friends when I’m off set, right? Isn’t that a lot more fun?” Her honest comment caught Giwoo slightly off guard.

When reflecting on her emotional goodbye to Amazing Saturday (a well-known Korean variety show), Hyeri shared, “I’m the kind of person who tears up during farewells. After I let those feelings out, I feel lighter and clearer. In this industry, you’re always meeting new individuals and saying goodbye. After spending long days together, you’d think I’d be used to it by now. But I still end up crying quite a bit.”
