In the film Victory, Hyeri plays Pil Seon, a dancer who lives and breathes for dance. Pil Seon, a high school student who has taken over Geoje with her dance moves, dreams of becoming Uhm Jung Hwa’s backup dancer in Seoul. Together with her dance partner and soulmate, Mi Na, she creates the Millennium Girls cheerleading club.
Hyeri shared, “Recently, people at my new company told me that someone like me should definitely be in show business.” She continued, “The reason I could enjoy my 14 years in this industry was my sense of responsibility and determination. I believe that as a celebrity, I must work hard and do my best.”
Hyeri also acknowledged her success and gratitude, saying, “I’ve received so much love and, having debuted at a young age, I’ve earned more than most of my peers. And that’s the mindset I’ve had throughout my career.”
However, earlier this year, Hyeri stirred controversy with her Instagram post, “This is interesting,” amid rumors of a love triangle involving Ryu Jun Yeol and Han So Hee. When asked why she wrote the post being so responsible, Hyeri responded, “I’ve got nothing to say about it.”
She explained, “I’m worried that my private matters might overshadow ‘Victory,’ a film I deeply love and even shed tears for at the premiere.” Reflecting on the post, she said, “At that moment… It was the true thoughts and feelings of the real Hyeri.”
Aware of the distress her fans might have felt, Hyeri expressed her remorse, “I can’t stop for my fans. I can’t always be perfect or please everyone, and for that, I am sorry. I believe this film will have a positive impact on them, and they’ll see how hard I’ve worked. I miss my fans dearly and can’t wait to meet them during the stage greetings.”
Victory is set to release on August 14th.
