Min Hee Jin, former CEO of ADOR, has found herself at the center of controversy following remarks about BTS member V.
During her October 29th appearance on music critic Kim Young Dae’s “School of Music,” Min Hee Jin shared, “V occasionally calls from the base,” adding, “Despite everything happening, he cheerfully checked in, asking, ‘You alright?’ He also said that when everything first surfaced, he didn’t know when would be the right time to reach out.” She went on, “He even texted me in the middle of the night on my birthday to wish me a happy birthday. He’s such a poppy person and so friendly.”
Her comments raised suspicions of military favoritism for V. People pointed out that V enlisted on December 11th, 2022, and Min Hee Jin’s birthday is December 16th—just five days after his enlistment. As a trainee in basic training, V would not typically have access to a phone, especially at night.
The issue gained further traction when a netizen filed a complaint with the Ministry of National Defense. The complaint read, “There is suspicion that V was using his phone during basic training, even though he shouldn’t have had access to it. Was he granted special privileges because he is a celebrity? Did his unit tolerate or allow such behavior?”
In response to these allegations, the Ministry of National Defense issued a formal statement on November 20th, addressing the claims directly.
On November 20th, the Ministry of National Defense stated, “The Army Training Center where V was stationed allows trainees to use their phones for one hour during weekends and public holidays. According to the center’s guidelines, V was issued a phone and used it during the designated afternoon hours, not in the middle of the night.” They further emphasized, “There was no special permission, tolerance, or exceptions made for V regarding phone usage.”
