Celebrities often enjoy immense wealth and fame, and their residences are a testament to their lavish lifestyles. Let’s spotlight some self-made celebrities who have achieved remarkable success at a young age.
Real estate experts reported on September 3 that BTS member J-Hope acquired a stunning penthouse at Afer Hangang in Yongsan, Seoul, on June 3, 2020, for ₩12 billion (approximately $9 million).
A few weeks later, on June 23rd, J-Hope purchased an additional lower-level penthouse for ₩10 billion (around $7.5 million). He finalized the payment for the first penthouse on June 10, 2024, and the second on July 26, 2024, securing both properties within a month. Notably, no mortgages were listed against these properties, suggesting he paid in full with cash.
In addition to his Afer Hangang holdings, J-Hope owns two units in the upscale Trimage complex in Seongsu, Seoul, a favorite among celebrities. With his recent acquisitions, he now owns four properties in Seoul. J-Hope is currently serving in the military and is expected to complete his service on October 17.
Another young and wealthy figure is South Korean soccer star Son Heung Min, who plays for Tottenham Hotspur in the English Premier League. Reports indicate that Son purchased a penthouse at Eterno Apgujeong for ₩40 billion (around $30 million) in June. Given his frequent travels for league matches, it’s likely that his family will be the primary residents of this new home.
Singer Lim Young Woong also made headlines in 2022 with his purchase of a penthouse at Mecenatpolis in Seogyo-dong, Mapo-gu, Seoul, for ₩5.1 billion (approximately $3.8 million). With no recorded mortgages, it appears he also paid for the property in full cash. This penthouse is located on the 39th floor and is one of only four units in the entire building.
In 2022, singer G-Dragon bought a unit at Oner Cheongdam in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam, with reported prices between ₩15 billion and ₩18 billion (about $11.2 million to $13.5 million). Remarkably, he paid for this property without selling his previous homes.
G-Dragon had previously acquired Galleria Foret in Seongsu for ₩3 billion (approximately $2.3 million) in 2013 and a building in Cheongdam-dong for ₩17.3 billion (around $13 million) in 2017. Additionally, he bought a penthouse at Nine One Hannam for ₩16.4 billion (about $12.3 million) in 2021. In 2021, singer IU also made waves by purchasing a unit at Eterno Cheongdam for ₩13 billion (about $9.7 million) with no loans.
Many people envy the sight of self-made celebrities collecting fortunes at a young age, ranging from tens of billions to hundreds of billions of won. However, It’s crucial to understand that their success didn’t happen overnight. Their hard work and competition against other talented celebrities deserve praise.
