The spin-off of the popular medical drama Hospital Playlist, Resident Playbook, was supposed to premiere in 2024, but it looks like it might be canceled. Many fans have been looking forward to this drama, especially since it closely follows CJ ENM’s Queen of Tears. Due to the current strike by health professionals in South Korea, the project could be postponed or even canceled permanently.

Originally scheduled for July 2024, the show faces another broadcast delay due to ongoing strikes by healthcare professionals. According to reports, it could be difficult for the show to get on the air , as producers fear criticism that they are romanticizing the lives of medical staff. The drama had already been postponed once. It was originally scheduled for May 2024, after Queen of Tears. It was replaced by The Midnight Romance In Hagwon.

Currently, the Korean Medical Association said that they will all take leave on June 18, 2024. Many major hospitals will face staff vacations as a result, leading seriously ill patients to express their anger and frustration, claiming they are “pushed to death” by doctors. Faculty at Seoul National University Hospital and the medical school also decided to take indefinite leave starting June 17, except for essential departments such as emergency and intensive care. Five other major hospitals have also decided to participate in the strike and are currently discussing their furloughs.

Resident Playbook stars Go Youn Jung, Shin Shi A, Kang You Seok, Han Ye Ji and Jung Joon Won in the lead roles.
