Hong Kyung and Roh Yoon Seo have shared their thoughts on working together for the new film Hear Me: Our Summer.

On the 24th, fashion magazine Elle Korea revealed a photoshoot featuring the duo, ahead of the release of Hear Me: Our Summer (directed by Jo Seon Ho). The shoot captures the tender and heartwarming moments between the two stars, perfectly in sync with the film’s theme of first love.

During the interview following the shoot, Hong Kyung described their upcoming movie as a story of “first love.” “I’ve always wanted to portray love on screen at least once when I’m still in my 20s. This movie focuses on the ‘beginning’ of love, one of its many facets. Through Yong Jun, I wanted to show how loving someone can make you experience emotions and thoughts you’d never have on your own.”

When asked about his co-star, Roh Yoon Seo, Hong Kyung didn’t hold back. “As soon as I heard Roh Yoon Seo would be playing Yeoreum, the entire project felt more vibrant and alive. I was nervous and got butterflies throughout the entire shoot,” he shared with heartfelt enthusiasm.

He went on, “Most of the scenes required sign language, but what I really focused on was what Yeo Reum was trying to say and feel in each moment. I poured all my attention and heart into that, which allowed me to express myself naturally.”

Roh Yoon Seo talked about the strength and kindness of her character, Yeo Reum. “Yeo Reum is an incredible person. She always puts her younger sister first and has a strong sense of responsibility and selflessness,” she shared. “While performing in sign language, I realized that even without sound, small gestures like bringing someone water or pulling out a chair can convey so much emotion. A single glance can express genuine feelings and love.”

She also praised Hong Kyung for his portrayal of Yong Jun, saying, “I thought his take on Yong Jun would be completely different from what I imagined from the original film. I had high expectations for how he’d bring him to life, and he didn’t disappoint. He has an intense focus, especially in his eyes, and is a truly passionate actor.”

Hear Me: Our Summer is a remake of the Taiwanese film Hear Me and follows the sweet, blossoming romance between Yong Jun, who dives headfirst into love, and Yeoreum, who slowly learns the meaning of true emotions. The film is set to hit theaters on November 6th.
