Director Woo Min Ho’s historical drama Harbin continues its box office dominance in Korea, maintaining its grip on the No. 1 spot for the tenth consecutive day.
According to the Korean Film Council, Harbin drew 92,864 moviegoers on January 2nd, pushing its cumulative attendance to 3,188,623. The film crossed the 3 million milestone on January 1st and is now nearly halfway to its break-even point of 6.5 million admissions.
The period piece chronicles the journey of Korean independence fighter Ahn Jung Geun and his fellow resistance members to Harbin in 1909, offering a measured portrayal of the historical assassination of Ito Hirobumi.
Meanwhile, Bogota: City of the Lost from director Kim Sung Je landed in second place with 25,303 admissions, bringing its total to 219,399 viewers, signaling potential struggles at the box office.
As of 8 AM on the 3rd KST, Harbin commands a 34.5% reservation rate, suggesting its theatrical dominance is likely to continue in the coming days.
