Both actresses exude a powerful presence, showcasing a bond that has clearly deepened through their work on this project. Born in the same year, the two have already sparked excitement with their on-screen partnership.
Project Y (working title) is set in Seoul’s Gangnam district and follows two childhood friends who plot to steal 8 billion won (approximately $6 million) in gold bars before making their escape from the criminal underworld. The series promises to be a gripping addition to the noir genre, with a fresh focus on a female duo.
The casting of Han So Hee, known for her breakout roles in The World of the Married and Netflix’s My Name, alongside Jeon Jong Seo, who has received critical acclaim for her performances in Burning, Netflix’s The Call, and the TVING series Bargain, has already generated significant buzz. The duo’s real-life friendship adds another layer of authenticity to their roles as best friends, making this a highly anticipated pairing that could redefine the female buddy genre.
Helming the project is director Lee Hwan, known for his bold and provocative storytelling in films like Park Hwa-young and Young Adult Matters. His involvement adds to the already high expectations for this series.
Project Y is being produced by Climax Studio, the creative force behind successful Netflix hits like Hellbound, D.P., and Parasyte: The Grey, in collaboration with global content powerhouse WOW POINT, known for titles like The Bequeathed and Parasyte: The Grey. With such a strong team behind it, Project Y is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about series of 2024.
Filming is set to begin in the second half of 2024.
