Han Ji Min joined fellow actors Jo In Sung, Chun Woo Hee, and writer Noh Hee Kyung for their annual Love Coal Sharing volunteer event on Saturday.
This initiative, organized by Gilbut—a volunteer group for professionals in the broadcasting, film, and theater industries—in collaboration with the international relief organization Korean JTS, aimed to deliver coal briquettes to residents of Guryong Village in Seoul’s Gangnam district. The village’s residents face challenges in heating their homes during the harsh winter months, and the volunteers sought to provide some warmth and comfort.
A total of 145 volunteers, including Han Ji Min, worked together to pass coal briquettes from one person to another. Over the day, they delivered 3,600 briquettes to 15 households in need. The celebrity participants hoped this effort would help the recipients experience a warmer and more comfortable winter.
Reflecting on the event, writer Noh Hee Kyung said, “I’m grateful we can come together to make a positive difference. Sharing warmth through coal briquettes is especially meaningful. I’ll always hold onto the emotions I felt today.” She also shared her commitment to continuing support for the cause in the future.
Gilbut’s year-end coal-sharing event, which began in 2021, is now in its fourth year. In addition to this activity, Gilbut has been hosting an annual fundraising campaign since 2004 on Children’s Day in Seoul’s bustling Myeongdong district. This campaign collects donations for underprivileged children worldwide through the Korean JTS International Relief Organization.
Han Ji Min’s dedication to philanthropy has long been recognized. She aspired to become a social worker while studying at Seoul Women’s University. In a past interview, she shared, “Growing up, I watched my grandmother help others selflessly, and that deeply inspired me to do the same. I’m always moved by the kindness of the volunteers I meet, and that motivates me to give back. The greatest fulfillment I feel while volunteering comes from knowing I’m making a meaningful difference in people’s lives.”
In other news, Han Ji Min is currently in a public relationship with Choi Jung Hoon, the lead singer of the popular South Korean band Jannabi, who is 10 years her junior. The couple reportedly began dating after meeting in August 2023 during an appearance on KBS 2TV’s The Seasons—Choi Jung Hoon’s Night Park.
