Han Ji Hyun has shared her thoughts on her upcoming drama “Face Me”!
“Face Me” is a KBS2 mystery thriller that follows the unlikely partnership between cold plastic surgeon Cha Jung Woo (Lee Min Ki) and passionate detective Lee Min Hyung (Han Ji Hyun), who team up to solve crime by utilizing reconstructive surgeries for the victims.
Lee Min Hyung is a confident, bold, and honest detective who is quick to act when she sees injustice. Despite her bright and cheerful personality, she has a complicated past that can make her feel weak and small.
When asked why she decided to star in “Face Me,” Han Ji Hyun revealed, “The fact that I’d be able to work with Lee Min Ki was a major pro. Watching him in the various projects he’s done up until now, I’d always thought to myself that I wanted to work with him at least once. It was also a meaningful challenge for me to try playing a detective for the first time, and I wondered, ‘Will I be able to pull off this kind of role?’”
Expressing confidence in their on-screen chemistry, Han Ji Hyun continued, “Because Lee Min Ki was great at taking the lead, I learned a lot about even the finest details. That’s how great the atmosphere was on the filming set, and I also think that we had fantastic acting chemistry.”
In terms of how she prepared for her role, the actress confessed, “I struggled with the terminology used by detectives, which was difficult for me while acting. Also, because the role involved a lot of action, I took lessons at action school and worked hard so that the action scenes could look more natural and convincing.”
As for how she would describe the character of Lee Min Hyung, Han Ji Hyun introduced her as “an honest detective with good instincts who is humane and sensitive when it comes to solving cases.” She added, “While acting, I tried to portray her as sometimes cold and sometimes emotional.”
The actress also chose the keyword “recovery” to sum up “Face Me” as a whole. She explained, “After a crime takes place, during the process of searching for the truth, this drama also heals the victim’s wounds and feelings.”
Finally, Han Ji Hyun humbly concluded, “Because this is my first time playing a detective, I was lacking in many ways, but I still worked hard to prepare for the role. Please look forward to seeing what kind of roles Lee Min Hyung and the many other characters will play in the story, along with the dynamic episodes that will unfold. I hope you’ll give us lots of love and interest.”
“Face Me” will premiere on November 6 at 9:50 p.m. KST, following the conclusion of KBS 2TV’s currently airing drama “Dog Knows Everything.” Check out a teaser for the drama here!
