Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee are set to captivate audiences once again as they reunite for the highly anticipated Gyeongseong Creature Season 2, reportedly premiering on Netflix on September 27th. The new season comes nearly eight months after the release of Season 1.
The series, set in the spring of 1945 when darkness loomed over Korea, follows two young adults—Tae Sang (Park Seo Joon) and Chae Ok (Han So Hee)—as they confront monsters born of greed. The show garnered significant attention even before its release, thanks to the star power and undeniable chemistry of Park Seo Joon and Han So Hee.
The show comes from Jung Dong Yoon, known for his work on Hot Stove League, and written by Kang Eun Kyung, the acclaimed writer behind Dr. Romantic and Gu Family Book. The supporting cast, including Soo Hyun, Kim Hae Sook, Cho Han Cheol, and Wi Ha Jun, also delivered standout performances.
According to FlixPatrol, Gyeongseong Creature‘s part 1 of Season 1, released on December 22nd, quickly soared to the top of Netflix’s global TV show rankings within four days. The series also ranked third on Netflix’s Top 10 Non-English TV Shows list, gaining traction overseas despite mixed reviews in Korea.
In Season 2, the story deepens as Ho Jae (also played by Park Seo Joon), a character strikingly similar to Tae Sang, and Chae Ok as they unravel the lingering connections, destinies, and enmities that began in Gyeongseong. While Season 1 explored the terrifying monsters born of greed and the even more monstrous human figures, Season 2 shifts the backdrop to Seoul in 2024, promising a fresh narrative.
The final episode of Season 1 teased fans with a cliffhanger, showing a man who looks exactly like Tae Sang responding to the name “Ho Jae.” With the addition of actors Lee Moo Saeng and Bae Hyun Sung, Season 2 is poised to deliver fresh twists and new beginnings, making it one of the most anticipated releases of the year.
