FTISLAND’s Minhwan has decided to suspend all his media activities following the recent controversy.
On October 24, Minhwan’s ex-wife Yulhee posted a revealing video about their divorce on her YouTube channel. In the video, Yulhee says that the decisive reason for their divorce was Minhwan’s visits to adult entertainment establishments. Yulhee also released a recording of phone conversations between Minhwan and someone presumed to be associated with these establishments.
The recording allegedly contains evidence of Minhwan making reservations at entertainment establishments as he makes multiple phone calls to the person over several days. The recording includes Minhwan’s statements, “I want to go out and have fun right now. Is there a place to go? They say there are no girls at OO. The wait is really long.”
As these allegations gained further traction, on October 25, FTISLAND’s agency FNC Entertainment released the following statement:
Hello, this is FNC Entertainment.
We would like to share an official statement regarding Minhwan.
While it is difficult for us to fully grasp the details of personal matters related to marital issues, Minhwan feels a sense of responsibility for disappointing many of the public and viewers. Therefore, he has decided to suspend all media activities including the show he appears on with his children.
We apologize for any inconvenience and concern this may have caused to many people.
Minhwan and Yulhee, who got married in 2018, announced their divorce after five years of marriage in December last year. They have one son and two daughters, with Minhwan having custody of the children. Following the divorce, Minhwan shared his daily life with his children on KBS2’s variety program “The Return of Superman.”
Following the controversy over Minhwan’s issue, the production team of “The Return of Superman” also stated, “Minhwan has decided to step down from the show, and there are currently no pre-recorded segments in which he appears.”
