FT Island’s Choi Min Hwan took to social media to address recent allegations, only to face increased backlash leading to a swift deletion of his post.

The K-pop star posted a personal statement on Weverse yesterday, stating “I want to express my personal position regardless of my agency.” He insisted, “I have never engaged in prostitution as the media reported. I was cleared due to insufficient evidence. How can I prove something I didn’t do? That’s why I have nothing more to say.”

The controversy erupted in October when his ex-wife Yulhee, a former member of LABOUM, revealed through her YouTube channel that during their marriage, Choi had frequented adult entertainment establishments and allegedly sexually harassed her. Following public reports, police investigated the claims, but the Gangnam Police Station concluded the case without forwarding it to prosecution, citing “insufficient evidence.”

Addressing the audio recordings released by Yulhee, Choi explained, “The hotels and motels mentioned in the recordings were places I went because I wanted to be alone,” adding, “I just can’t believe that I’m asking you guys to believe this.” He continued, “I’m sorry I don’t have concrete evidence, but I just want you to know it’s really not true,” and “I have no intention of hiding or running away.”

When a fan demanded further clarification, asking “You say you didn’t engage in prostitution, but why can’t you deny visiting the establishments?” Choi directly responded with the comment, “I’ve already been snipped, so I don’t need condoms. I always bring a toothbrush wherever I go because I’m hygienic by nature.”

Despite Choi’s attempt to deny prostitution allegations and reveal personal medical information of vasectomy, public reaction remained largely negative. After facing backlash for engaging in heated exchanges with fans, he deleted the posts.

Choi has suspended his activities with FT Island and media appearances following his ex-wife’s allegations. Currently, Yulhee has filed for mediation with the Seoul Family Court regarding changes in child custody and claims for damages and property division.
