Yoo Ara, formerly of HELLOVENUS, has bravely opened up about her recent battle with cancer.

On June 11th, Yoo Ara took to her Instagram to share a heartfelt update with her fans. “I hope everyone is doing well. Some of you actually believe that I’m gone…” she began. “I often felt fatigued and unwell for a long time. It was during an unexpected check-up that I found out I had cancer.”

She continued, “I was told I needed surgery urgently. I underwent surgery to remove a malignant tumor, and I’m currently taking medication and resting. I’m feeling much better now.”

Yoo Ara also addressed her absence and the concern it caused among her friends and fans. “I know some of you felt hurt because I was out of touch. It was tough keeping this to myself. I hope you can understand and I appreciate your love and support,” she expressed.

The singer-turned-actress reassured her fans, “Until the end of this year, I’m focusing on not getting stressed and recovering my condition. Please take care of your health and stay safe in the heat.” She concluded, “I know this news might have shocked you, but I just wanted to let you know that I’m doing well. Please don’t worry too much.”

Yoo Ara debuted with HELLOVENUS in 2012, releasing hits like “Venus,” “Would You Stay for Tea?” and “I’m ill.” After leaving the group in 2014, she transitioned to acting, appearing in dramas like The Alchemist.
