Cube Entertainment has issued a formal apology for the unauthorized use of the Red Cross emblem.
Last week, (G)I-DLE wore lifeguard uniform-themed stage outfits for their performance on the July 19 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank.” After the show, some viewers noted that the outfits were a misuse of the Red Cross emblem, which is protected under the law as an exclusive symbol of neutrality and humanitarian aid in situations of armed conflict.
On July 22, Cube Entertainment released a statement announcing that they had apologized directly to Red Cross Korea and were actively discussing follow-up measures.
The agency’s full statement is as follows:
Hello, this is Cube Entertainment.
We are making a statement regarding (G)I-DLE’s stage outfits for their performance of “Klaxon” on the July 19 episode of KBS 2TV’s “Music Bank.”
We recognize that there was a problem with the stage outfits in question, and after contacting and apologizing to Red Cross Korea, we are actively discussing follow-up measures and the prevention of a reoccurrence.
We would like to apologize once again to those affiliated [with the Red Cross] who experienced any inconvenience because of this.
We sincerely thank the fans who always give (G)I-DLE lots of interest and support.
Thank you.
