Recently, FNC Entertainment staged its FNC Kingdom concert in Japan, while FTISLAND’s Choi Min Hwan, who had previously declared a hiatus earlier this year, continues his withdrawal from public engagements.
The 2024 FNC KINGDOM—SING SING SING concert, which took place over the weekend, was a tremendous success with local fans. The two-day event was hosted at the Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Hall in Chiba, Japan, where FNC’s lineup of artists showcased vibrant performances to a captivated crowd.
FTISLAND and CNBLUE, two prominent bands in K-pop, were instrumental in launching and concluding the concert, cementing their reputation as trailblazers of the Korean Wave. FTISLAND opened the show with an impactful performance of their hit “PRAY,” followed by a six-song lineup featuring popular tracks such as “Stay What You Are” and “Orange Days.” CNBLUE then took over with a high-energy performance, playing seven songs including “A Sleepless Night” and “In My Head.”
In a standout collaboration, FTISLAND’s Lee Hong Gi and CNBLUE’s Jung Yong Hwa joined forces for a duet of “Sudden Shower,” the theme song from the Korean drama Lovely Runner. The pair then performed FTISLAND’s “Love Love Love” and Jung Yong Hwa’s solo hit “One Fine Day.”
Actor Jung Hae In also delighted the audience at FNC Kingdom with a special performance. Nonetheless, FTISLAND’s Choi Min Hwan was conspicuously missing from the event.
Choi Min Hwan’s absence follows a wave of accusations made by his ex-wife, Yul Hee, in October. She claimed he was a regular at adult entertainment venues and alleged various inappropriate actions, including statements that he “stuffed money into my chest” and “touched sensitive areas in front of family members.”
In light of the allegations, Choi Min Hwan suspended his media engagements and halted FTISLAND’s promotional activities. However, last month, the Gangnam Police in Seoul wrapped up their investigation, declaring that there was not enough evidence to substantiate the claims. Consequently, the case was not referred for prosecution.
Following this outcome, Choi Min Hwan expressed remorse. “I sincerely apologize for the distress and difficulties I have caused. I deeply regret and truly reflect on my actions,” he remarked. Despite speculation around his potential return to the spotlight, sources confirm that Choi Min Hwan continues to observe his self-imposed hiatus, concentrating on personal introspection.
