Park Jin Young and Roh Jeong Eui are set to lead the new drama The Witch (literal title), which will air as a weekend drama on Channel A in the first half of 2025.
The Witch is a mystery romance that tells the story of a woman driven out of her village because the men who fall in love with her end up injured or dead. The plot follows a man determined to save her from this deadly fate. The drama is based on the popular webtoon of the same name by Kangfull, known for his works Moving and Idiot. The show comes from Dark Figure of Crime director Kim Tae Kyun.
Park Jin Young will play the role of Dong Jin, a top-rated data miner. To prove that the woman he loves, Mi Jeong, is not a witch, he studies statistics in college and, ten years after graduating, risks his life to uncover the law of misfortune, hoping that Mi Jeong will finally be able to re-enter society.
Roh Jeong Eui takes on the role of Mi Jeong, a mysterious woman who has isolated herself from the world. From a young age, strange things have always happened around her, and the men who liked her ended up hurt or dead. Believing her fate to be a curse, Mi Jeong lives in seclusion but also longs to step back into the world.
Channel A announced, “With the launch of ‘Cinderella at 2am’ on the 24th, followed by ‘Marry YOU,’ ‘Check-In Hanyang,’ and ‘The Witch,’ we have completed our lineup of weekend dramas. From office romance and a comical romantic tale of an islander to a youth historical romance and now a mystery romance, we aim to showcase a diverse range of romantic genres.”
The Witch is set to bring a fresh take on the romance genre when it premieres next year.
