tvN’s new Monday-Tuesday drama “Serendipity’s Embrace” (also known as “Is It Fate?”) has shared a glimpse of its script reading!
Based on a popular webtoon, “Serendipity’s Embrace” will tell the story of young people finding true love and their dreams after accidentally running into their first love from 10 years ago.
At the script reading, director Song Hyun Wook and webtoon writer Park Geu Ro as well as actors including Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop, Yun Ji On, Dasom, Lee Won Jung, Hwang Sung Bin, Choi Dae Chul, Yoon Jung Hee, and Kim Jung Nan were in attendance.
First, Kim So Hyun transforms into Lee Hong Joo, an animation producer who is afraid of love due to painful memories from her previous relationship—and who undergoes an unexpected change after running into Kang Hoo Young (Chae Jong Hyeop), who witnessed some of her lowest moments from her past.
Chae Jong Hyeop stars as Kang Hoo Young, a handsome and highly intelligent financial planner living in the United States who never needed to work hard to achieve great results. Bored with his dull and meaningless life, Kang Hoo Young finds his heart fluttering again when he returns to Korea for the first time in a long while and unexpectedly reunites with Lee Hong Joo, his first love from high school, after 10 years.
Yun Ji On plays the role of Bang Joon Ho, a free-spirited writer who wants to change the past.
Dasom portrays Lee Hong Joo’s best friend Kim Hye Ji, an English teacher who is sincere about love and has blossomed since her days as a shy high schooler.
Lee Won Jung plays the role of Lee Hong Joo and Kim Hye Ji’s friend Kwon Sang Pil, who also claims to be Kang Hoo Young’s best friend.
Hwang Sung Bin transforms into Son Kyung Taek, a physical education teacher at Ohbok School who is called “Superman” among his students.
Choi Dae Chul takes on the role of Kang Hoo Young’s uncle Baek Wook, while Yoon Jung Hee plays Bae Hye Sook, the CEO of the company Peter’s Pen.
Finally, Kim Jung Nan portrays Kang Hoo Young’s mother Baek Do Seon, who is expected to add tension to the story.
The production team remarked, “Viewers can look forward to the chemistry and passionate acting of Kim So Hyun, Chae Jong Hyeop, Yun Ji On, and Dasom, who will complete the romance that summons memories of first love. The romance between a young man and a young woman, who find their destiny in coincidences that repeat countless times, will provide excitement and warm sympathy amidst pleasant laughter.”
