“The Trunk” has unveiled a star-studded lineup of special appearances!

Based on a novel, “The Trunk” is about a secretive marriage service whose hidden truths begin to unravel when a mysterious trunk appears by a lakeside. The story follows Noh In Ji (Seo Hyun Jin), an employee at NM (New Marriage) who finds herself deeply alone despite living with a “contract husband” every year, and Han Jeong Won (Gong Yoo), who enters into this contract marriage in an ironic attempt to salvage his previous marriage.

Lee Jung Eun stars as Kwon Do Dam, Noh In Ji’s neighbor for the past five years. She balances warmth with nosiness and will have viewers guessing if she’s an ally or a foe. Director Kim Kyu Tae shared, “Lee Jung Eun skillfully portrays this intriguingly mysterious neighbor, who is unsophisticated yet friendly, and blunt yet thoughtful.”

Uhm Ji Won plays Lee Sun, the poised CEO of New Marriage (NM). Lee Sun, who personally scouted Noh In Ji to join NM, approaches her clients with firm convictions about marriage. Director Kim explained, “When thinking of an actress with an elegant yet cold smile full of conviction, Uhm Ji Won immediately came to mind.” He added, “The character of Lee Sun could have felt rigid and detached, but Uhm Ji Won exceeded expectations as she delivered a relaxed yet graceful charisma.”

Lee Ki Woo portrays Seo Do Ha, Noh In Ji’s first husband, a pivotal character in her backstory.

Choi Young Joon appears as Kim Hyun Choo, a detective investigating a murder case. Director Kim described the character as “a somewhat stereotypical detective—indifferent yet sharp.” He added, “For this role, we needed a skilled and distinctive actor. Without Choi Young Joon, the mystery would have lost its weight and authenticity.”

In the released still, Cha Seung Won is donning an oxygen mask, sparking curiosity. Director Kim shared a behind-the-scenes anecdote: “After our first script reading, Cha Seung Won’s name came up during a team gathering. When I called to check in with him, he joked, ‘Why am I the only one who doesn’t have a role? I don’t mind even a small one so feel free to offer me anything.’ So I pitched him an absurdly minor role, but he graciously accepted.”

Jung Kyung Ho portrays another key figure connected to Noh In Ji’s past, delivering a subtle yet impactful performance. Director Kim recounted, “While discussing the role, Jung Kyung Ho’s name came up. We thought it might be too ambitious, but we reached out anyway—and to our luck, he accepted. His gentle smile and demeanor brought comfort to the entire team during filming.”

Director Kim Kyu Tae expressed gratitude, saying, “I feel incredibly fortunate to work with such outstanding actors who elevate these important roles.”

“The Trunk” is set to premiere on November 29 via Netflix. Check out a teaser here!
