tvN’s upcoming drama “The Queen Who Crowns” has unveiled new stills featuring Cha Joo Young!
“The Queen Who Crowns” will tell the story of the fiery life of Queen Wongyeong (Cha Joo Young), a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early days of the Joseon dynasty and made her husband, Lee Bang Won (Lee Hyun Wook), a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was described in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama will reimagine history from the perspective of Queen Wongyeong, who lived an independent life without losing herself in spite of devastating betrayals and harsh reality.
Wongyeong is depicted as the daughter of the most prestigious noble family in Goryeo, possessing both stunning beauty and exceptional intelligence. She believed that together with her husband Lee Bang Won, they could create a peaceful world under a power that exists for the people. Eventually, she stands at the center of the world she dreamed of, achieving Lee Bang Won’s enthronement.
The newly released still images feature Wongyeong who exudes the noble charisma of a queen with elegant dignity that remains unshaken in any situation.
The production team remarked, “Cha Joo Young is an actress who can express the qualities a queen must possess through her gaze, facial expressions, and posture alone. It is hard to believe that this is her first historical drama as she has excellently mastered the tone and diction of her lines. We expect that she will perfectly portray Wongyeong’s fiery life and earn the title of ‘Queen of Historical Dramas.’”
“The Queen Who Crowns” will premiere on January 6 at 8:50 p.m. KST. Stay tuned!
