BTS’s Jin, who was affectionately dubbed a “god” during his military service, recently made a surprise visit to his former army unit, keeping a promise he made to his fellow soldiers.
On August 22nd, photos of Jin’s visit circulated on various online communities. The images show Jin casually dressed in a loose white T-shirt and black cap, surrounded by his former comrades as they posed for pictures together.
One of the soldiers shared their reaction, writing, “I didn’t believe it when he said he’d come back after being discharged.” Another soldier referred to Jin as a ‘god,’ posting, “We miss you, our god.”
In a previous interview with Weverse Magazine, Jin revealed, “I spent more than my military salary buying meals for the guys. I treated them to so much chicken, jokbal, and pizza that they eventually couldn’t eat anymore. I even took other rooms out to barbecue. Honestly, they started calling me ‘god” in the unit.”
Jin also spoke about the camaraderie within his unit, explaining, “My peers were also amazing. By the end of my service, none of the soldiers in my unit were mentioned negatively in the letters (anonymous feedback letters), and the preference ratings from the soldiers for officers shot up from around 38-40% to 98-99%. Other units were really envious of how close-knit we were.”
When Jin was discharged in June after serving in the 5th Infantry Division, the emotional farewell with his fellow soldiers became a hot topic as many were seen shedding tears.
