BTS member Suga has been facing intense scrutiny following his recent DUI incident.
Last April, Suga appeared on IU‘s YouTube show, “IU’s Palette.” During the show, IU mentioned that Suga’s birthday was coming up soon. Suga responded with a blank expression, saying, “You’re not seriously going to bring out a cake and party hats, are you?”
IU and the production team then sang a birthday song for Suga, presenting him with a headband and cake. Without changing his expression, Suga replied, “I don’t usually celebrate my birthday.” He added, “You shouldn’t expect reactions like J-Hope’s from me.”
After watching the video, netizens called out Suga, saying, “IU wished him a happy birthday, but he never said thank you,” “No one’s asking for a big reaction, just basic manners—how hard is that?” “He seems arrogant,” “He lacks social skills,” and “More and more issues keep coming up.”
A video from one of Suga’s solo concerts has also gone viral, showing him using profanity on stage. On August 11th, various online communities and social media platforms shared videos titled “Suga swearing at a concert” and “BTS Suga shouting ‘F***!’”
These videos are believed to be from Suga’s solo world tour “SUGA | Agust D TOUR D-DAY” in Seoul last June. In the shared footage, Suga was performing the song “Moonlight” from his mixtape D-2 and shouted a strong expletive into the microphone. The event was attended by 15,000 people over the two-day Seoul concert.
Netizens were shocked and disappointed by his behavior, arguing that it was inappropriate for a singer with a large and young fanbase. “Is that really part of the lyrics? I can’t believe it,” one user commented. Others wrote, “Swearing on stage at a concert? How is that acceptable?” and “I can’t believe this is just coming to light now. Fans are too lenient.”
This incident, along with revelations from the documentary SUGA: Road to D-DAY, where Suga can be heard swearing while working on his music, has fueled further controversy. Netizens have criticized him, commenting, “Does he think swearing is cool?” and “How pathetic.”
