ARMY has been sharply divided following Suga‘s DUI incident.

An Influential BTS fan account on X (formerly Twitter) with 290,000 followers was deleted on August 13th. Previously known as the “BTS Music Information Team,” the account posted on August 9th, “This is affecting everyone. We need an explanation from the artist.” While the post garnered 26 million views, it also faced backlash from some ARMY members. Some ARMYs criticized the account, stating that it “crossed a line” and was “meddling in other people’s business.” Following this, the account lost 10,000 followers.

On the same day, some fans launched a campaign calling for Suga to leave the group. Hashtags like “#MinYoongi_VoluntaryExit,” “#DrunkDriver_MinYoongi_Leave,” and “#SUGA_VoluntaryExit” started trending in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th spots on August 12th around 11 AM. Many netizens believe these hashtags were taken down because of mass reporting by some hardcore ARMY members.

Then on August 13th, wreaths with messages demanding Suga’s departure were placed in front of HYBE’s headquarters in Seoul. Photos shared online showed over 20 wreaths with messages like “Suga, leave the group,” “You’re the one who let go of us,” and “Congrats on your downfall.”
