A South Korean rugby sevens player and former star of the reality show Physical: 100 is facing renewed public outrage after shocking CCTV footage of his violent assault on his ex-girlfriend was aired by JTBC.

The assault occurred in June when the man forcibly entered his ex-girlfriend’s home in Gangnam and attempted to assault her. When she resisted, he brutally attacked her, causing serious injuries including a concussion. Shocking CCTV footage obtained by MBC news shows the extent of the violence. The naked rugby player is seen physically attacking the woman, who repeatedly pleads with him to stop. Despite her pleas, he continues the assault, even dragging and choking her. The victim managed to escape to the bathroom and call the police, but the player broke down the door and resumed the attack. He then fled the scene, smashing the woman’s phone multiple times.

The victim revealed that he sent a text message to her shortly after the incident to create an alibi. The text he sent read, “I heard a scream, I hope you’re okay.”

The girl testified that she had dated the athlete for six months in the past, and this incident occurred three months after their breakup. She claimed that she had invited him over on the day of the incident because he had asked to retrieve clothes he had left at her place, but then he attempted to attack and sexually assault her when he entered the house. She suffered from facial bruises and a concussion from this attack and is now receiving psychiatric treatment. The national rugby player was arrested back on June 21, three days after the incident.

Meanwhile, the athlete in question has recently been active as a TV personality and coach for a corporate team. He is reported to be a South Korean rugby sevens player who competed in the 2017 Asia Rugby Seven Series in Qatar and represented the country at the 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics. He is also reported to have appeared on the reality shows Physical: 100 Season 2 and Let’s Play Soccer.
