Coupang Play’s upcoming drama “Newtopia” has released a new set of stills featuring Jisoo in character!
“Newtopia” tells the story of Jae Yoon (Park Jung Min), who is serving in the military, and his girlfriend Young Joo (BLACKPINK’s Jisoo), as they race through a zombie-infested Seoul to find each other.
Jisoo stars as Yeong Joo, a determined girlfriend who will stop at nothing to reach her boyfriend—even in the face of zombie hordes.
The newly released stills offer a glimpse into Yeong Joo’s vibrant college life, where she shines as the goddess of the engineering department. In one image, she’s surrounded by male classmates, including one kneeling before her with a flower in hand.
In stark contrast, other stills depict her terrified and tearful yet fiercely resolute in the face of a zombie apocalypse. Clutching a golf club with white-knuckled determination, Yeong Joo’s unwavering resolve to navigate through the chaos of Seoul to find Jae Yoon takes center stage.
Jisoo shared her enthusiasm for the role, saying, “I was drawn to Yeong Joo’s charm from the start, and I wanted to portray her as authentically as possible. I hope viewers enjoy watching her grow in many ways.”
Director Yoon Sung Hyun also praised Jisoo’s performance, noting, “Her quirky and humorous traits aligned 99 percent with the Yeong Joo I envisioned in the script, and she brought the character to life beyond my expectations.”
