JTBC’s upcoming drama “Family by Choice” has shared a sneak peek of Bae Hyeon Seong’s character!
“Family by Choice” is a romance story that unfolds as three people who spent 10 years living together as a family, then 10 years apart as strangers, reunite and reconnect.
Kang Hae Jun (Bae Hyeon Seong) grew up being treated like the biological son of Yoon Jeong Jae (Choi Won Young), who was his mother’s blind date in the past, due to certain circumstances. Despite facing many challenges from a young age, Hae Jun’s cheerful personality, sincere emotions, and the endearing qualities he developed from dealing with tough situations set him apart in his family.
Kang Hae Jun has deep affection for Yoon Jeong Jae and Yoon Ju Won (Jung Chaeyeon), who took him in as family despite having no blood relation. Hae Jun is determined to repay Yoon Jeong Jae, who is like a father to him, and to be a supportive brother to Yoon Ju Won by succeeding in basketball. It remains to be seen if Hae Jun’s dreams will come true and what his journey will reveal.
Hae Jun’s feelings for his family are also reflected in a personal character introduction by Bae Hyeon Seong. The introduction highlights his current interests including family and basketball, keywords “basketball,” “crybaby,” and “family love,” and his motto: “Our family’s happiness is my happiness,” showing his genuine emotions.
In his family role, Kang Hae Jun sees himself as Yoon Ju Won’s older brother, reflecting the image he wants to project. Although his nickname is “crybaby” because of his sensitive nature, Hae Jun’s wish to be a great older brother to Yoon Ju Won is clear in his personal introduction.
The new stills highlight Kang Hae Jun’s bright and cheerful charm. While he usually has a sweet, puppy-like appearance, he dramatically changes when he picks up a basketball, drawing attention with this surprising shift.
There is also growing excitement about Bae Hyeon Seong’s performance. He is expected to energize the role by portraying Kang Hae Jun’s past, present, and future with a mix of youthful innocence and strong determination.
“Family by Choice” is set to premiere on October 9 at 8:50 p.m. KST.
