aespa has set a new Billboard record with their latest release!
Ever since their debut, aespa has pulled off the impressive feat of charting all of their albums in the top 50 of the Billboard 200—Billboard’s weekly ranking of the most popular albums in the United States—and their new mini album “Whiplash” was no exception.
For the week ending on November 9, aespa’s new mini album “Whiplash” debuted at No. 50 on the Billboard 200, making it their sixth consecutive album to enter the chart after “Savage,” “Girls,” “MY WORLD,” “Drama,” and “Armageddon.”
With this latest entry, aespa has achieved the historic feat of becoming the first K-pop girl group ever to score six top 50 albums on the Billboard 200.
Additionally, aespa’s title track “Whiplash” set new personal records for the group on Billboard’s global charts this week. The song rose to a new peak of No. 5 in its second week on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart, making it aespa’s first to enter the top five, and it also hit a new peak of No. 8 on the Global 200, where it became aespa’s first song to break the top 10. (aespa’s long-running hit “Supernova” also stayed strong at No. 96 in its 25th week on Billboard’s Global Excl. U.S. chart.)
Meanwhile, “Whiplash” climbed to No. 2 on Billboard’s World Albums chart, in addition to debuting at No. 9 on the Top Album Sales chart, Top Current Album Sales chart, and Independent Albums chart—meaning it was the ninth best-selling album of the week in the United States.
Finally, aespa re-entered Billboard’s Artist 100 at No. 35, marking their 15th non-consecutive week on the chart.
Congratulations to aespa!
