Lee Byung Hun opened up about the joys of fatherhood in his recent interview for Squid Game season 2.
The actor sat down for an interview with Star News at on January 8th, where he discussed Squid Game season 2. He played Frontman in season 1 and joined the games as Oh Yeong Il in season 2.
Lee Byung Hun shared, “So many people worked hard on Squid Game. Everyone involved, from the actors to the crew, feels a strong sense of accomplishment.” He continued, “I’ve worked on Hollywood films before, but I’m experiencing things I didn’t feel in those projects. This show really is something special.”
When asked about the mixed reactions to the series, he said, “I respect all opinions. Honestly, no project is free from criticism. I personally really enjoyed it. I think Director Hwang Dong Hyuk is incredibly smart.”
Lee Byung Hun, who married in 2013 and had a son in 2015, welcomed his second daughter in December 2023, ten years after getting married.
When asked about raising his daughter, Lee Byung Hun reflected, “Having a daughter feels completely different from raising a son. Every time I’m home, I hold her, and it’s definitely not the same as holding my son. Sons resist when you hold them, so they feel 1.5 times heavier than they actually are. But my daughter doesn’t do that—she just snuggles up and stays calm. She’s soft and adorable. Her behavior is completely different from what I saw when raising my son.”
When asked if his daughter looks more like her mom or dad, Lee Byung Hun laughed and said, “When she was born and up until her first birthday, she looked completely like me. But after her first birthday, her face completely changed, and now she looks just like my wife.”
Squid Game season 2 set a new record with 126.2 million views in just 11 days, ranking second.
