The Military Manpower Administration and police have launched investigations into WINNER member Mino’s alternative military service duties, while his workplace supervisor reveals the K-pop star’s deteriorating health condition made regular duty impossible.
Speaking to Daily Sports, Supervisor A of the Mapo Public Facility, where Mino serves his alternative military service, confirmed that investigations are underway. “The Military Manpower Administration has been on-site reviewing CCTV footage and attendance records since the news broke, and we’ve just received a request from police to preserve our CCTV footage,” the supervisor stated.
The controversy erupted on December 17th when a media outlet alleged Mino would appear at his duty station only a few times, sign in, smoke a cigarette, and disappear.
While Supervisor A remained cautious about detailed allegations, citing ongoing investigations, they opened up about Mino’s concerning health status. Addressing reports of Mino’s panic disorder and bipolar disorder, the supervisor revealed, “He’s unable to function normally. His body is heavily under the influence of his medications,” adding that “His symptoms become severe in cycles, particularly bad in March-April and October-December.”
“When he transferred here in March, we had a three-way discussion with the Military Manpower Administration, us, and Mino,” Supervisor A explained. “The Administration discussed his duties on the premise that he should remain out of public sight, and since he was uncomfortable being seen by staff, we had to provide the break room as his private space.”
Mino faces these allegations while on medical leave, just days before his scheduled discharge on December 23rd. “I understand the Administration has asked Mino to submit materials explaining the attendance allegations,” Supervisor A stated, adding, “While his discharge likely won’t be delayed, I’m unsure about potential penalties if issues are found.”
YG Entertainment, Mino’s agency, previously responded to the initial allegations stating, “While we cannot provide detailed information about the artist’s service, we can confirm that his medical leaves and vacations were used according to regulations.”
