“Firefighters” has surpassed 2 million moviegoers!

On December 19, the Korean Film Council announced that “Firefighters” had officially reached 2,005,651 moviegoers as of the previous day. Released on December 4, the film surpassed the 2 million mark in just 16 days.

Directed by Kwak Kyung Taek, “Firefighters” captures the authenticity of real-life events by telling the story of firefighters who responded to the fire disaster in the Hongje neighborhood in March 2001. It vividly depicts the urgent situation faced by the team from the Western Fire Station, along with the sweat and tears of firefighters working under challenging conditions, all driven by a singular goal of extinguishing the fire and rescuing everyone.

In celebration of the achievement, the film’s stars expressed their gratitude to viewers.

Joo Won wrote, “We exceeded 2 million moviegoers! I sincerely thank you. I love you.”

Yoo Jae Myung wrote, “2 million viewers—thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Wishing you all happiness!”

Lee Yoo Young wrote, “The name to remember: Firefighter. We’ve hit 2 million! I love you. Thank you.”

Oh Dae Hwan wrote, “Thanks to all of you, we were able to donate 238 million won (approximately $164,000) to the National Fire Hospital. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”
