tvN’s upcoming historical drama “The Queen Who Crowns” has offered a first look at the relationship between Cha Joo Young’s and Lee Hyun Wook’s characters!
“The Queen Who Crowns” tells the story of Queen Wongyeong (Cha Joo Young), a kingmaker who dreamed of a new world in the early days of the Joseon dynasty and made her husband, Lee Bang Won (Lee Hyun Wook), a king with whom she shared the power of the throne. Although she was described in historical records only as “King Taejong’s wife” or “Mrs. Min” without her full name, the drama will reimagine history from the perspective of Queen Wongyeong, who lived an independent life without losing herself in spite of devastating betrayals and harsh reality.
Ahead of its premiere, the first images of the couple—Wongyeong and Lee Bang Won—have been released, drawing attention.
Wongyeong, the daughter of a prominent Goryeo Dynasty noble family, and Lee Bang Won, the son of Yi Seong Gye, a leader of the rising military forces, will face turbulent times. Together, they will rise to become king and queen, standing at the heart of the world they dreamed of.
The newly released images of the couple showcase a deep connection that transcends love, highlighting the strong years they have spent together. On a warm spring day, beneath a canopy of blooming cherry blossoms, their gazes as they hold hands tightly exude romantic energy.
The main focus of the drama is how their love, forged through turbulent times, evolves. A teaser released earlier delves into the psychological complexities and conflicts between the two before they become king and queen, hinting at a love-and-war storyline.
The production team shared, “The emotional journey of this couple, as their deep love turns into conflict, is a key part of the story.” They added, “We hope viewers look forward to the unique tale of love and resentment between Wongyeong and Lee Bang Won as shown in the stills.”
